Who is eligible to apply for a scholarship from the Demonstrative Need Scholarship Fund?

Any student enrolled at a fundamental Christian college or university is eligible to apply.

What criteria must be met?

Potential grantees shall have demonstrated academic ability, spiritual leadership and financial need.

How can the scholarships be used?

The scholarships may be used to pay tuition and fees and costs for books, supplies and equipment required for courses of instruction at the fundamental Christian college or university in which the student is enrolled.

Can a student qualify for a scholarship to attend graduate school?

Yes, a student may qualify for a scholarship to attend graduate school. However, undergraduate students are considered for scholarships before graduate students.

What is the deadline for application?

The deadline for application materials to be submitted to the DNSF liaison office is April 1 of each year.

Does the Demonstrative Need Scholarship Fund provide loans to students?

No, DNSF provides scholarships only.

How are scholarships paid to students?

The Demonstrative Need Scholarship Fund will issue a check in the name of the student and his/her college or university. The student will be required to endorse the check over to the college or university, and the amount of the scholarship will then be applied toward tuition and fees and books, supplies and equipment required for courses of instruction.

Does the student need to have references as part of the application?

Yes, the application form itself contains information as to what types of references are required.

What is the typical amount granted by the Demonstrative Need Scholarship Fund?

DNSF receives numerous applications and seeks to aid as many qualified students as possible. Therefore, most scholarships range from $500 to $2,000. DNSF will grant scholarship amounts based on the current funding available, the size of the pool of applicants and the student's financial need.

Is the student required to work in order to be eligible to receive funds from the DNSF?

No.

What is the Demonstrative Need Scholarship Fund’s relationship with Bob Jones University?

The DNSF is a separate, independent tax-exempt fund that is overseen by individuals who love Christian education and who desire to see more students enrolled at fundamental Christian schools of higher education, particularly Bob Jones University, to be trained for the service of Jesus Christ.

How are applications handled?

Properly filed applications received by the DNSF deadline will be reviewed by the board soon after the deadline date, and applicants will be prayerfully considered.

Scholarship decisions will be forwarded to the liaison office, and applicants will be contacted with the board's decisions.

Does a student need to fill out an application every year in order to be eligible for the Demonstrative Need Scholarship Fund?

After an initial application packet is completed, abbreviated application materials (consisting of a completed and signed application as well as a copy of parents' current 1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ) must be turned in for every new school year thereafter.
